Mickey O'Malleys, Sunset Bay

Mick and Marina bought their bar in 2007  on a lease and rental contract.

At the time they had been looking for a mainly drinking bar and Jacquie Webber of Business Finder Tenerife showed them a few prospects before they settled on the premises which would become the popular Mick O'Malleys.

They have worked very hard over the last three years to create all the atmosphere  of a good old Irish pub and a reputation for good food and an even better craic.

First time customers are often surprised to meet Mick. Expecting a broad Irish accent, they find instead that Mickey is a Londoner. Although he is Irish through and through he is what is known as a 'plastic paddy' as he was brought up in England.

Nonetheless, O'Malley's opening hours are typically Irish - from 9.30am till the last person falls out the door, some time in the wee hours of the morning.

Both Mick and Marina enjoy being there for their customers and so they work split shifts with one of them always on duty. The bar sits 56 but it has seen many more customers than that squeeze in for the good food and good company.

Marina does the cooking which is she says, "...mainly pub grub."  Breakfasts are very popular at Mick O'Malleys and the Sunday roast is a specialty. Marina prepares a smaller serving for light eaters and oaps and this thoughfulness carries throughout the menu and the services at Mick O'Malleys.
